The BCSO Chaplain Division provides spiritual and emotional support for over 280 law

    enforcement personnel and support staff.

¨ The Division also provides spiritual support for the jail population of up to 650 or more prisoners.

¨ Chaplains are ecumenical and minister to people of all faiths.

¨ BCSO chaplains are credentialed law enforcement or hospital chaplains, or both. Some of the chaplains are also certified fire service chaplains.

¨ Many of the chaplains are certified by International Critical Incident Stress Foundation to perform post-traumatic event services to the sheriff’s office and other public service agencies.

¨ Spiritual support for the jail population is provided by a team of dedicated jail ministers who bring their messages of faith and hope to those incarcerated.

¨ Differing faiths are represented by the jail ministers who volunteer in the Detention Center.
